Academic Articles, News Topics, and Trade Journals

ABI/Inform : includes articles from scholarly journals, trade journals, and magazines and newspapers on North American and International business. Topics covered include advertising, economics, human resources, finance, marketing, etc.
- use * to truncate search terms ex. (induc* AND copyright)
- use subject terms and browse topics guide ex. music industry,litigation, contracts, negotiations.

Academic Search : provides full text for over 4,500 periodicals covering the social sciences, humanities, news, music, and business.
- use * to truncate search terms, use " " to search phrases
- use subject terms and company/entity terms

Business Source Premier : provides full text for nearly 8,350 scholarly business journals and other sources, including full text for more than 1,100 scholarly business publications.

Business News, Regional : provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications, incorporates 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires covering all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.

Communication & Mass Media Complete : for scholarly and trade publications in the fields of communications, communication disorders, and journalism/mass media. FIND abstracts for several hundred titles, with full-text availability for over 200 titles. An EBSCO database.

Factiva : provides full-text news, magazines, trade journals from thousands of sources in many languages. In addition to its article search features, it is also a source of public company and investment information.
- enter search terms in "Free Text" box, use* to truncate.
-highlight +Industry and select industry areas from dropdown list ex. media, leisure arts, selecting category adds them to the search. Click + to expand categories.
-IMPORTANT!- selected "headline and lead paragraph" or "full article" from search options in the lower right. Default is to article title only.
- click on "Run Search" button at bottom.

LexisNexis Academic : Search to find newspaper articles, business and magazine articles, from state, national, and international news sources.
-select "Guided News" tab.
-select a news category ex. general news, business news, legal news.
-select a news source ex. newspapers, magazines -these options change with each "news category".
-select a time frame to search, default is 6 mos.
-IMPORTANT!- LexisNexis symbol for truncation is "!" to the right of the word!

ProQuest Newsstand : is an extensive collection of U.S. and international news sources. Includes coverage of 150+ major U.S. and international newspapers such as the New York Times and the Times of London, plus hundreds of other news sources.
- search like ABI/Inform.


Legal News, Law Reviews, and Cases

LexisNexis Academic : Strongest components are full text news and legal information. Select the "Legal Research" link to search for court opinions, laws, and law reviews, and legal news, and cases.

CQ Weekly : News and analysis of the U.S. Congress

LexisNexis Congressional : Provides web access to Congressional information, including the full text of House/Senate hearings and reports, bills and laws, committee assignments, and more.
