ReSEARCH Station
Go to the Library's ReSEARCH Station from the campus website or www.csuchico.edu/library
.

Essential
~~ Articles & Databases www.csuchico.edu/lref/guides/rbn/
Use Business Source Premier or ABI/Inform to find articles in trade publications and scholarly/academic business journals.

~~ Books opac.csuchico.edu/
Start with the Meriam Library catalog. Books are a source for background & overview, practical applications, and the bibliographies can lead you to more sources. (If there are not enough books available here, use Pharos/CSU Libraries Catalog and Interlibrary Loan to order the books from another library at no charge.)

Other favorites available on the ReSEARCH Station:
~~ Library Catalog or Periodical List (look up a journal to see what database it's in or where it is shelved in the Library.)
~~ Reference & Quick Facts (for citation style basics).
~~ Subject Guides (locate the best resources for any class or a topic).
~~ Help / Ask a Librarian
(contact a librarian by IM, Email or Chat).
~~ Reference books and encyclopedias for "backgrounder" articles on topics with bibliographies of major articles & books.

Business Source Premier and ABI/Inform Global
Start with BSP and then try ABI -- they're similar in coverage, but not identical. Articles are full-text mostly.
TIPS:
~~ Use "and" between major concepts
~~ Find how-to articles: combine a concept keyword with one of these 'article-type' terms:
Guidelines... Methods... Problems... Solutions ... Best Practice.
Example: employee discipline and guidelines (
works best in ABI/Inform.)
~~ Identify Subject Thesaurus or Topic Terms for better results. Narrow and refine your search using these search words .
~~ In BSP, use the Narrow Results options (on left) or browse the "Subjects" option (on the right side).
In ABI, use the "Topics" tab.
~~ Focus on U.S. content by including "and united states" in your search. In BSP use the Geography option from the Narrow Results section. Example: wellness and united states.

employees and discipline interpersonal relations and work
health promotion and employees and united states generations and work environment
problem employees sustainability and reporting
sustainable buildings business meetings and productivity
entrepreneurship and career privacy and work environment
new business enterprises and guidelines flexible and hours
intercultural communicaton employees and attitudes
cross cultural and communication bullying and workplace
teams and motivation women executives and leadership
harassment and guidelines electronic monitoring

Sort and Evaluate
~~ Sort according to article type
~~ Choose "Scholarly/Academic" articles when looking for in-depth studies with bibliographies which can lead to more sources.
~~ Choose Trade/Professional articles when looking for practical, "how-to" treatment.

~~ Evaluate the articles in your result list ~~ Which are long enough so you have plenty of content to write about? ~~ Scan the abstracts for those that address a section of your paper's outline or answer a question you've posed in your paper ~~ Do any articles offer better keywords that can be used to search for more articles?

  Find It & Periodicals List
You will usually find the full-text of the article directly. If not, click on .

~~ will search in the Library catalog (Periodical List) to find other databases that contain the full-text of that article. For management topics, Emerald and Science Direct are
excellent databases with full-text article content.

~~ Meriam Library Catalog indicates print holdings.
~~ Check the date range to be sure we own the issue you need. ~~ Use the call number to find it on the shelf on the 2nd floor.

~~ Use Interlibrary Loan (ILL) to receive books and articles from other libraries. ~~ Caveat: It can take up to two weeks to receive material. Start your project early!

Books
Books are located on the 3rd floor, known as the "Main Collection." Online and e-books are available through links in the catalog.
~~From the Library ReSEARCH Station, s
elect "Books".
