125th Anniversary Celebration

125 Celebration Logo Join the celebration! Chico State is 125 years old this year, and we are proud to be the second oldest state university campus in California. We want to use the occasion to highlight some of our outstanding contributions to the region and state, showcase our amazing faculty, staff, students and alumni, and invite friends and friends in the making to our beautiful campus.

Here are some ways you can join in the fun: come to the Chico State Expo 125 April 14 and the 1880s Party October 6; help us get 125,000 volunteer hours in the My Service Courts campaign; check out the Wildcat Cruiser on the “Special Projects” web page; and share Chico State stories on the “Memory Lane” page.

Chico State started with a gift. In 1887, John Bidwell, founder of the City of Chico, donated eight acres of his cherry orchard so California could have a college in the north part of the state. His generosity and foresight has made it possible for thousands of students to come to Chico State and transform their lives. And his little teacher’s school has grown into the sixth ranked comprehensive public university in the West.

Take a few minutes and visit the different pages of this anniversary website. Participate in our special events and activities. You are only 125 years old once!
