Reinstatement to the University
Disqualified -What's Next Workshop
Recently Academically Disqualified? In order to meet with an academic advisor about your individual situation, you must first attend a "Disqualified-What's Next" workshop to learn about your alternatives as well as timelines and procedures for appealing for reinstatement.
This workshop will assist you in determining how to resolve the problems which led to your disqualification. Doing so is crucial to the success of your appeal for reinstatement. Be sure that you are ready to continue at CSU, Chico before you appeal.
Academic Reinstatement
Once you have been disqualified and you wish to be reinstated to the University, you must:
- (1) Apply for readmission to the University
- (2) Formally petition for reinstatement to the University.
The petition for Reinstatement is your first step in the appeal process for reinstatement to the university. The petition instructions include strategies you should consider, as well as suggestions for the content of your letter of intent. In addition to petitioning for reinstatement, you will also need to re-apply to the University with a standard CSU, Chico Admissions application.
Taking courses at a Community College or through Open University may be your answer. If you have been disqualified or denied admission you may be eligible to take regular CSU, Chico courses through Open University. See an advisor for options and guidance.
The Appeal Procedure:
Your appeal will be reviewed by the academic status committee for your intended major. Academic status committees meet in April to consider appeals for the fall semester, and during September for the spring. Committee members look for clear evidence that you have resolved the problems which led to your academic difficulty.
