4 Year California Promise Program

Beginning in fall 2018, the four year pledge program is for first-time students in one of the following majors:

  • Agricultural Business
  • Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • English
  • Social Work
    • Due to program impaction, additional student conditions may apply for social work majors

California Promise Eligibility

In order to be eligible for the California Promise Program students must:

  • Be a California resident and meet one of the following three conditions:
    • be a low-income student
    • be a graduate from a high school located in a community that is underrepresented in college attendance
    • be a first-generation college student

California Promise Benefits

Students in these majors who choose to participate in the program will receive a variety of benefits including:

  • Tailored Academic Advising
  • Priority Course Registration Appointments
  • Guaranteed graduation in no more than four years

California Promise Student Conditions

Students who choose to participate in the program must meet the following conditions:

  • Remain enrolled in your declared major and follow your Degree Progress Report and Smart Planner
  • Complete 30 semester degree applicable units each academic year (may include winter and summer sessions)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.00 GPA each semester (including winter and summer sessions)
  • Maintain a minimum 2.00 major GPA
  • Each semester:
    • Meet with the program academic advisor
    • Meet with a faculty major advisor
    • Enroll in required courses when they are offered and/or available
    • Use the priority registration system and pay fees by the deadline
  • If eligible for financial aid, meet the annual financial aid application deadlines and requirements
  • Comply with all CSU, Chico administrative, judicial, and academic policies and procedures

California Promise Applications

Eligible students can indicate interest on their admissions application. Students will be required to submit a California Promise Pledge Form.
