Academic Advising Student Interns

Alondra

Major: Psychology

Alondra is a senior at Chico State, she transferred from Hartnell College in Monterrey County Spring 2016. She was born in Mexico and migrated to the United States at the age of one. Alondra is a first-generation college student and after graduating hopes to attend graduate school to obtain a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. When Alondra is not in the office, you can find her giving back to the community or spending time with family and friends. Alondra is part of Upsilon Kappa Delta multicultural sorority, where she’s held several positions such as; Community Service Chair, Fundraiser Chair, and VP of Internal Affairs. Through those positions, she has been able to explore her passion and has been given the encouragement to continue her education. As an Academic Advising Intern, Alondra hopes to aid students to reach their goals and academic dreams. Alondra loves meeting new people and there isn’t a day you won’t see her with a huge smile on her face.

Angel

Major: Psychology
Minor: Political Science

Angel is currently in his junior at Chico State and is a first generation college student. He spends most of his free time getting involved on campus or at the WREC playing basketball. During his time at Chico he has been involved with many programs such as R.E.A.C.H., Summer Orientation and C.L.I.C. His goal is to attend graduate school and obtain his Master’s Degree or attend Law School. His hopes are to work for a federal law enforcement agency under the umbrella of the Department of Justice. Through his experiences at Chico State, Angel has learned that he is passionate about helping others succeed in all aspects of what they do. He is very friendly and approachable so don’t be afraid to stop by and say hi!


Cristian

Major: Biology

Cristian is currently a junior at Chico State studying Psychology and Biology. He was born in Palo Alto (the same city that James Franco was born in) and moved to Chico at the age of 11. He hopes to one day become a professor of psychology and help conduct some research on Alzheimer’s. Cristian likes many things and high on the list is food, dogs, and exploring the great outdoors. Although it might sound crazy, he also enjoys running for fun. Cristian is passionate about helping others and he is glad he gets to do so through Academic Advising.


Drea

Major: Communication Sciences and Disorders

Drea is a first generation college student and received her bachelors in Communication Sciences & Disorders at Chico State. She is in her first year as a graduate student and is working on her master’s degree in speech-language pathology. Drea hopes to one day open her own private practice where she can serve a diverse population of individuals. When Drea is not working in the office, you can find her engaging in community service, spending time with her family, or working as a Graduate Assistant. Her passion is getting to hear stories from people she meets and helping people fulfill their goals!

Edgar

Major: Mechanical Engineering

Edgar is a junior studying Mechanical Engineering at Chico State. He hopes to work in the automotive industry after graduating from Chico. He also participates on the Chico State Baja Team where they design and race a mini Baja against 100 teams around the world. When he is not in class, working, or at the Baja Club he can be found hiking, reading, watching movies, or exploring Chico. Edgar is excited about the chance to be an academic advising intern because he’s always been a part of programs that have guided him and now he wants to help others.




Graciela

Major: Pre-Nursing

Graciela is a first generation college student in her third year at Chico State. She was born in Mexico and migrated to the United States at the age of three. She is hoping to major in Nursing and minor and in Child Development. When Graciela is not working on academics, she works as a nursing assist. Graciela is also involved with several organizations on campus like ETS, EOP, and Phi Eta Sigma. Through her experiences with academics, Graciela was inspired to work with students as an Academic Advising Intern.  Overall, Graciela is extremely excited to aid students with their goals and educational dreams.


Julianna

Major: Psychology

Julianna is currently in her last year at Chico state. She transferred from Fullerton Community College in Orange County. Julianna will be graduating with a B.A. in psychology in hopes of getting her M.A. in Higher Education Leadership. She plans to work as a college counselor it order to teach and inspire students to reach their goals of higher education. When Julianna is not in class, at the Academic Advising office, or working at Trader Joe's, she can be found hiking or spending time with friends! Julianna is passionate about helping others and hopes that through this opportunity as an advising intern, she can assist students in creating a memorable college experience and help them in achieving their goals.

Nolan

Major: History

Nolan is in his senior year at Chico State. As a History student, he plans to enroll in Chico State’s Teaching Credential program after graduation in hopes of becoming a high school history teacher. Nolan spent a lot of time exploring majors before finding his interest in history, and he wants to help other students find what they are truly interested in as well. When Nolan isn’t working or studying, you can find him throwing a Frisbee or playing banjo with friends. Come in to Academic Advising and meet with Nolan to explore your interests and future major!
