AmandaAmanda

Major: Psychology
Minor: Career and Life Planning and Family Relations

Hometown: Chico, CA

Amanda is the only girl of six and the first in her family to go to college. She's a member of the Hmong Student Association, an EOP student and a part of the TRIO program. She's passionate toward education and student success and therefore plans to pursue a masters degree in School Psychology or Higher Education. Amanda's hobbies include hiking, dancing, soccer, journaling and she loves to spend time with her family and friends.


DouaDoua

Major: Sociology
Minor: Psychology

Hometown: Gridley and Oroville, CA

Throughout his college experience Doua has worked with CSU, Chico's Upward Bound as a Resident Advisor and the Student Office Assistant. With his experience working with first generation/low income high school students within Upward Bound, he developed an interest in being a part of helping college students succeed in higher education. His future goals are to attend graduate school in the School Psychology/PPS program, with a career as a school psychologist or school counselor. Doua's hobbies include outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, camping and sightseeing.

JaneJane

Major: M.S. in Psychology - Marriage and Family Therapy

Hometown: Originally from Oroville, CA but considers Chico her hometown

Jane completed her B.A. at CSU, Chico in Social Science with emphases in Child Development and Family Relations. She is excited about interning with Academic Advising because she is able to combine her two passions of counseling and education. She loves helping others and is looking forward to gaining experience toward her career goals while helping other students work towards their own academic and career goals. When not busy with school and homework, Jane enjoys spending time in the park with her fiance and their 2 dogs. She also loves spending time with family and friends, hiking, reading and watching movies.

Major: Exercise Physiology
Minor: Nutrition

Hometown: San Leandro, CA

Janet has been with the Academic Advising team since 2011. She was born and raised in the Bay Area but fell in love with Chico's campus and the town itself. Janet decided to become an intern to be better connected with her fellow peers and be a part of their Chico experience. She has been involved with CAVE and CSU, Chico's Relay for Life team. In her spare time, Janet enjoys running, cooking, going to Bidwell Park, and watching movies.

SamSamantha

Major: Business Administration, option in Accounting

Hometown: born in Chico, CA; raised in Statesville, NC and Oroville, CA

Samantha has goals of attaining her CPA license after graduation to further her future career path as an accountant. She is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization to financial information students and professionals. Samantha joined Academic Advising Programs as an Intern in January 2013. She enjoys helping and seeing her peers succeed by providing resources and guidance to help them achieve their educational goals. Aside from being a part of Academic Advising Programs, she also works for the Student Learning Center. Samantha studied abroad in Chiang Mai, Thailand in fall 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

YaninaYanina

Major: Business Administration, option in Human Resources Management

Hometown: Gilroy, CA

Yanina is the first in her family to go to college, making her a first generation and low income college student. Through her experiences, she understands many difficulties students like her may face. Yanina chose to be an advising intern to provide help and support to many of her peers. She is also a student of the Educational Opportunity Program. Yanina's ultimate goal is to be the first in her family to graduate from college.

ViviViviana

Major: Psychology & Spanish

Hometown: Willow, CA

Viviana is currently in her second year at CSU, Chico. She is a first generation college student who is a TRIO student as well as an EOP student. Being part of these programs has inspired Viviana to work with college students and help them succeed and achieve a higher education. She plans to graduate Chico State with a degree in Psychology and Spanish and continue her education in Higher Education. Viviana  became an intern at Academic Advising Programs in January 2013. Viviana is involved in many different clubs and organizations on campus. She loves meeting new people, learning about different cultures, as well as being involved on campus and the community.
