After many years in the workforce, Anna had the opportunity to change paths and return to school to finish her education. Anna is currently a senior at Chico State working toward finishing a B.A. in Social Work. Her goal is to continue into the Graduate Program in Social Work and apply her experiences in a career that would be focused on assisting returning, non-traditional students, much like her to be successful in higher education. Along with joining the Academic Advising Programs in January 2014 as an Intern, she has also been involved in many clubs and organizations on campus. Two in particular, L.E.A.D. (Leaders Educating for the Advancement of Dreamers) and the Student Association for Social Work have allowed her to work with diverse student populations where she has had the opportunity to advocate for students in helping them achieving their educational goals.

Dana is currently a second year at Chico State. She joined the Academic Advising Programs as an intern in the spring of 2015 and hopes to obtain a BA in Anthropology. Since being here at Chico, she has been involved in Up 'Til Dawn, LeadCat, and C.A.V.E. programs, such as Special Pals and weekend emersion trips. Dana’s hobbies include volleyball, listening to music, arts and crafts, hiking, and spending time with friends outdoors.

Throughout his college experience, Doua has worked with CSU, Chico's Upward Bound as a Resident Advisor and the Student Office Assistant. With his experience working with first generation/low income high school students within Upward Bound, he developed an interest in being a part of helping college students succeed in higher education. He completed his B.A. at CSU, Chico in Sociology with a minor in Psychology. He is currently a graduate student for the School Psychology/PPS program at CSU, Chico. His career goal is to become a school psychologist or school counselor. Doua's hobbies include outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, camping and sightseeing.

In his second year at Chico State, Dylan is keeping himself busy by being involved with the school. He plays for the Chico State men’s soccer program as a right midfielder and also writes for the student-run school newspaper, The Orion, as a sports writer. Dylan is also involved with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Dylan has a twin brother named, Ryan, who also attends Chico State and is currently pursuing history as a degree option. The two have never been separated for longer than a week at a time and still live together at the age of 19. Dylan has worked in the office every spring semester, so far, in his college years; first for the National Student Exchange and the Academic Advising Program as a student assistant, and now as an advising intern in the office. Dylan loves to lend a helping hand when he can and enjoys meeting new people and seeing new faces. Outside of school, Dylan’s hobbies are reading, writing and exploring the outdoors (he also wishes to be a comedian but is afraid that he is not funny enough to take to the leap to the big spotlight…local stand up comedy).

Jane completed her B.A. at CSU, Chico in Social Science with emphases in Child Development and Family Relations. She is excited about interning with Academic Advising because she is able to combine her two passions of counseling and education. She loves helping others and is looking forward to gaining experience toward her career goals while helping other students work towards their own academic and career goals. When not busy with school and homework, Jane enjoys spending time in the park with her fiance and their 2 dogs. She also loves spending time with family and friends, hiking, reading and watching movies.

Jessica is a 4th year student at Chico State. She is the first person in her family to attend college and hopes to be the first to graduate from college. She is majoring in Recreation Administration with an emphasis in Event Management where she hopes to work in large scale events. She is a member of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority on campus and has held many leadership positions within her sorority. She loves Chico's many opportunities for outdoor activities. When she isn't at work or in class she is hiking with her puppy in Upper Bidwell. Some of the things that she can't live without are peanut butter, cheesecake, and adventure. She hopes to become a helping hand for students of all variations through Academic Advising and be able to learn more about advising.

Jordan is a third year student at Chico State. She is double majoring in Psychology and Multicultural and Gender Studies with an option in Women’s Studies. Jordan is a passionate activist and feminist. She interned at the GSEC for two semesters. Jordan is a current member of the Event Funding Allocation Council and the Multicultural Affairs Council and has ran both cross country and track for Chico State. Jordan joined the Academic Advising team because she wants to help students on campus thrive throughout their education.

KaoLee is a transfer student from Butte College. With a junior standing class level here at CSU, Chico, she is currently majoring in Psychology with a minor in Child Development. KaoLee joined Academic Advising as an intern in Spring 2015. She is eager to help students excel and achieve their academic career. With the help and support that she has received from many advisers, KaoLee is inspired to assist students and help them achieve their goals in education. KaoLee is striving to become a school counselor because she wants to make a positive difference in students’ lives. Outside from school, KaoLee enjoys going on hikes and hanging out at coffee shops with her family and friends. She also is optimistic about joining the Peace Corps one day.

Kendall transferred to CSU, Chico and is currently in her final year. She chose her major because she loves interacting with others and strives to promote the strengthening of communication skills and a healthy lifestyle. Coming to Chico as a first-generation, low income transfer student, she felt lost and alone. Taking initiative, building relationships, and becoming involved is her best advice. Her educational experience has driven her to guide students in a successful direction with her motivational attitude and knowledge of campus resources. In the last year she has been involved and served leadership roles in many organizations on campus including REACH, First-Year Experience, and Upward Bound. Through her educational experience, she has developed skills working with a diverse population of students. Her future goals are to attend graduate school and ultimately snag a career where she can explore the Pacific Northwest and record her travels. After travelling, she would love to instruct or advise at a college. Kendall enjoys trailblazing, stargazing, yoga, and crafting. She is passionate about helping others succeed academically, emotionally, and physically.

Lauren is currently in her second year at CSU, Chico and joined the Academic Advising Programs as an intern in Spring 2014. Her goal for the future is to obtain a masters or doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology and work with children in a clinical setting. Lauren is an absolute animal lover and coffee connoisseur. She also loves hiking, spending time with friends and family, baking, and dancing.

As a former Chico State student, Lili is proud to say that she is the first in her family to go to college! Lili was born in Mexico and raised in the beautiful small town of Chico. With the help and guidance from professionals, mentors and family, she has completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology this past year and plans to attend grad school next year where she plans to pursue a Masters in Higher Education. She will be pursuing a career in which she can help students achieve their academic success. Lili has been involved in various clubs and organizations on campus and loves to meet new people within campus and the Chico community.

Robert is a first generation college student and is a part of EOP. His inspirations come from the advisors that he met during his Summer Bridge experience, and during that time, it sparked his interest in helping other students. He strives to be an advisor in the future to help students find their paths in college. Since working in Academic Advising Programs, he has found passion in working in higher education and hopes to one day to pursue this passion after earning his undergraduate degree. In September 2014, his passion for helping students led him to sit on the council for Diversity Affairs. His hope is to promote diversity on our campus and to get students to become more involved. His short term goal is to graduate and continue on helping people in any way shapes and form.

Samantha has goals of attaining her CPA license after graduation to further her future career path as an accountant. She is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization to financial information students and professionals. Samantha joined Academic Advising Programs as an Intern in January 2013. She enjoys helping and seeing her peers succeed by providing resources and guidance to help them achieve their educational goals. Aside from being a part of Academic Advising Programs, she also works for the Student Learning Center. Samantha studied abroad in Chiang Mai, Thailand in fall 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.

Thembi is a senior at Chico State. She was born and raised in Africa and still follows the values and traditions of her culture. She is majoring in communications and has goals of becoming a host on ENews! Along with broadcasting, she has a niche for the law. She was the Vice President for CSU Chico’s African Student Union, and sits on the Associated Students’ Diversity and Affairs Council. Thembi joined the Academic Advising Program as an Intern in Spring 2015 and loves the friendly environment of the office, as well as her co-workers. Her favorite pastimes include reading, swimming, dancing, and hanging out with friends and family.

Savannah joined Academic Advising Programs as an intern in January 2014, and is currently in her third year at CSU, Chico. She is involved in many clubs and organizations on campus including First Year Experience, For Kids at The Turner, and Up ‘til Dawn. Her future goals are to attend graduate school to complete a Master’s degree, and ultimately become a college professor. Savannah enjoys learning, traveling, yoga, hiking and animals.

Vanessa was born in the small town of Red Bluff, and raised in an even smaller town known as Gerber. She is the oldest of two. She began CSU, Chico in Fall 2010, and found the right major for her in Fall 2012. She hopes to obtain a BA in Sociology and then go on to receive her master’s degree and work as an Academic Advisor, or within the student center. She has now entered the first semester of her senior year and looking back she has enjoyed every moment at CSU, Chico. Since being here at CSU, Chico, she has been involved in C.A.V.E, and holds the social chair position for ETSA. She has had opportunities to also work for C.A.V.E as a tutor to K-12 students, the Marketplace Café, and she is also working for the Office of Admissions as a Public Contact. She has been enjoying every opportunity and resource that CSU, Chico has given her.

Viviana is a first generation college student who is a TRIO student as well as an EOP student. Being part of these programs has inspired Viviana to work with college students and help them succeed and achieve a higher education. She plans to graduate from Chico State with a degree in Social Sciences, Spanish, and Latin American Studies and continue her education in Higher Education. Viviana became an intern at Academic Advising Programs in January 2013. Viviana is involved in many different clubs and organizations on campus. She loves meeting new people, learning about different cultures, as well as being involved on campus and the community.

Yanina is the first in her family to go to college, making her a first generation and low income college student. Through her experiences, she understands many difficulties students like her may face. Yanina chose to be an advising intern to provide help and support to many of her peers. She is also a student of the Educational Opportunity Program. Yanina's ultimate goal is to be the first in her family to graduate from college.
