"Good advising may be the single most underestimated characteristic of a successful college experience."
New Student Orientation Opportunities
Prior to meeting with an Academic Advisor, new students should complete one of the following New Student Orientation programs.
The Spring Orientation session will include welcome activities, information on how to use your Degree Progress Report (DPR) to understand your remaining class requirements for graduation, course selection strategies, and tips for using the online registration and wait-list systems.
It is strongly recommended that all new students attend a full orientation session if possible. These sessions provide comprehensive advising assistance to new students and the earliest possible access to class registration for Fall 2014. If you are unable to attend summer orientation we have a few other options available:
Express-Orientation sessions are offered in late July and will help assist you with understanding academic requirements. You will not register for classes at an Express-Orientation session, but will receive assistance in choosing classes so you are prepared when registration opens for new students in late July. Express-Orientations are approximately two hours and do not include major specific advising.
The Online Orientation will help give you a comprehensive virtual introduction to Chico State. Topics covered will include: course selection, registration, graduation requirements, university policies and procedures, and much more.
