Academic Reorganization
Higher Education in general and CSU, Chico in particular face the triple challenge of reduced fiscal resources, increasing public expectations and needs, and disruptive innovation—especially in information technologies. These challenges, when thoughtfully and intentionally addressed, also present CSU, Chico with opportunities for making itself potentially more relevant and even more appreciated by its students and its constituents.
The Division of Academic Affairs is reviewing a range of opportunities to leverage its unique learning assets to create engaging, personalized Chico learning experiences that provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to become engaged citizens in the global society of the 21st century.
The Academic Reorganization Team recently completed the first phase in a review of the structure of the Division of Academic Affairs and announced the selection of 7 models for ongoing consideration and evaluation in phase II of the review process.
The models selected for ongoing review were introduced to the campus and external stakeholders on December 1, 2011 by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs along with a schedule for further discussion and feedback solicitation through a variety of formats and venues. During the period of December 1, 2011 through February 27, 2012, please participate in the charrette, public forums, and focused discussion sessions and provide your comments on models A through G by clicking on the blue ‘Comments’ box on the upper right. You may want to periodically check Upcoming Events for the most recent information on the progress of Phase II.
Phase III: Recommending and Implementing Reorganization
On March 1, 2012, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs will commence the consultation process outlined in EM 76-15, EM 80-05, and EM 86-08 to effect the recommended academic structure. A project management schedule for the gradual implementation of a new academic structure will be developed and shared with the campus community.
