Cohort Three Timeline

Application and Selection Process - Early Spring 2011

Faculty should form a basic redesign team to treat a single course, get approval from department chair, and submit the application to their chair and dean by the application date above.

The Council of Academic Deans will select teams and approved applicants will be notified in mid-Spring. Selected teams will then sign the Memorandum of Understanding which defines the expectations and requirements of the project. The Technology and Learning Program team will administer a technology needs assessment of each team so they can provide workshops to ensure participating faculty have the prerequisite Blackboard Vista skills before June.

Pre-Academy Meetings and Preparation - Late Spring 2011

The intention of pre-Academy activities in April and May is for each team to be ready to proceed in June with the redesign of their course. Before the summer Academy, TLP will offer workshops to team members who need to attain minimum proficiency with the Vista learning management system. TLP consultants will also engage teams in pre-Academy consultation. Teams will also meet with the Deans and members of the previous Academy Cohort. Information will be provided to acquaint teams with the National Center for Academic Transformation (NCAT). The NCAT Website will orient team members to their program; the site is rich with resources, models to look at, and examples of courses and case studies to review.

Summer Workshop - June 2011

The Summer Workshop brings together the selected teams for three weeks during the month of June. All team members must attend the entire three weeks. Read more about the content of the Summer Workshop

After the three weeks in June teams will continue to meet with the members of the extended redesign team as needed and agreed upon to complete the redesign.

Course Rollout - Fall and Spring 2011-2012

In the Fall semester, teams should be piloting some of the course transformation as a work in progress, while assessing the effectiveness of these changes. For Spring, the transformed course should be fully delivered in some or all sections of that course.

Redesign Assessment

Academy e-Learning is fortunate to have an assigned assessment coordinator work with all teams. Pre- and Post redesign assessments are required to measure redesign effectiveness. The coordinator will meet with each team to help set goals and objectives and define appropriate instruments for an assessment plan and strategy.

Academy e-Learning assessment and debrief meetings to measure effectiveness of the Academy process will happen throughout the year. Your input is welcomed and essential to improve this project.
