I am originally from Cincinnati, Ohio. I went to Ripon College, a liberal arts school in Ripon, Wisconsin. I received an AB degree with a major in Spanish. I also have a masters degree in business(MBA) with an emphasis in Accounting from the University of Cincinnati.
After graduation, I worked for three years as an external auditor in the Cincinnati office of Arthur Andersen, one of the "Big Six" accounting firms. In April, 1979, I received my CPA license and later that year, married Steve Adams, a Phd student I met in graduate school. We were both offered teaching positions in Accounting at San Diego State University where we taught for three years before moving to Chico, California in 1982. We have been teaching at Chico State (California State University, Chico) ever since. We have two daughters, Jennifer, age 16 and Kristen, age 13. Jennifer attends Chico High School and Kristen attends Chico Junior High School.
My main teaching areas are financial accounting and auditing. I have been a member of the project team for the re-engineering of Chico's introductry accounting courses for about six years. In 1995, I became the editor of those materials. Outside interests include computers and duplicate bridge. My husband and I are both Life Master bridge players and members of the American Contract Bridge League.
