Hometown: Downey, CA
Major: Criminal Justice
Hi everyone my name is Jorge Manzanares. I am going into my 5th and final year at Chico State and am a proud brother of Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Incorporated. I am originally from the best town ever, Downey, California which is located near Los Angeles. Downey is relatively big in comparison to the small college town of Chico, and when I first arrived to Chico State for orientation with my family, I experienced a culture shock. However, I wouldn’t change a thing about my decision to come to Chico State.
I felt Chico State was the ideal school for me to attend; it provided everything I wanted for my college experience. My freshman year of school I was declared as a kinesiology major, then I changed to construction management, and then business administration, but after experiencing all that Chico has to offer and with the help of the staff and faculty I was able to find a major that I felt comfortable in; criminal justice. The students are all very friendly and the student homes are close to campus. Prior to moving to Chico I rarely rode a bike because of my city lifestyle, but since being here I ride my bike everywhere. I am also the biggest Dodgers fan and although there are a lot of Giants fans in Chico, I stay true to my team. THINK BLUE!!!
Since my arrival, I feel that I have been part of the Chico community, and I definitely believe that I made the right choice because I love Chico more and more every year. The people I’ve meet at Chico State have been great. They have definitely made my college experience the best that it could be, and I continue to meet people every semester, which is great!
