Hi everyone my name is Jorge Manzanares. I am currently a sophomore at Chico State and a proud brother of Nu Alpha Kappa Fraternity, Incorporated. When I first arrived to Chico State for orientation with my family and I experienced a culture shock.  I am originally from the best town ever! Downey, California which is located in Los Angeles.   My town is relatively big in comparison to the small college town of Chico, but I wouldn’t change a thing about my decision to come to Chico State.

I felt Chico State was the ideal school for me to receive my education and complete college experience. My freshman year of school I was declared as a kinesiology major, then I changed to construction management, but after experiencing all that Chico has to offer and with the help of the staff and faculty I was able to find a major that I felt comfortable in; Business Administration. The students are all very friendly and the student homes are close to campus. Prior to moving to Chico I rarely rode a bike because of my city lifestyle, but since being at college I ride my bike everywhere.   I am also the biggest Dodgers fan and although there are a lot of giant fans in Chico I stay true to my team. THINK BLUE!!!

Since my arrival, I feel that I have been part of the Chico community, and I definitely believe that I made the right choice because I love Chico more and more every year.  The people I’ve meet at Chico State have been great.  They have definitely made my college experience the best that it could be, and I continue to meet people every semester, which is great!
