Hometown: Chico, CA

Major: Recreation Administration

Hey everyone! I have a secret to tell you, I am a real Chico local!

My name is Kelsey Dixon and I am proud to say I am majoring in Recreation Administration, with a double option in Parks and Natural Resources as well as Tourism.  The recreation program here typically attracts a "people person" and I am the shining definition of that.

After finishing my general education in 2010 I decided to move to Tahoe and pursue a career in being a Ski Bum! I excelled well at it and found my true love for skiing and snowboarding, as well as working with people. I worked at Sugar Bowl Ski Resort, served at a fine dining Restaurant called The Lodge at Tahoe Donner, as well as nannied an adorable five year old girl.  So needless to say, I experienced working with a diverse group of people, which is how I learned that I have a passion for catering to people and getting them excited about new things. Now three years later, I am back in Chico and have found my niche, as a student in the Recreation Administration program.

A perfect day in Chico for me would be to wake up early on a Saturday, head to our Farmer’s Market to meet with friends and grab a Chico Chai, and afterward head over to the WREC for a workout, then go on a hike in Upper Bidwell park with my friends and family, and if weather permits jump in my favorite swimming spot, Bear Hole.

I can’t wait to show you our beautiful campus and teach you all about what it has to offer! Our town of Chico is a special place that exudes an amazing community feel, so come see for yourself!
