Vice President's Biography
Richard E. Ellison brings more than 20 years of advancement experience to California State University, Chico. He joined the campus in 2005 as the first vice president for University Advancement, a newly formed division comprising public affairs and publications, alumni and parent relations, creative services, advancement services, and university events.
Prior to his appointment as vice president, Ellison served as associate vice president for University Advancement at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, where he provided campaign leadership for the campus’s $225 million Centennial Campaign. His experience in fundraising includes public and private universities from the University of Colorado to Pepperdine University, as well as project management for Rebuild LA.
Ellison received his Masters of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. His commitment to service is illustrated in his role as a team captain for Rotary, volunteer work with domestic violence shelter and homeless programs, and his history of coaching university triathlon teams throughout his advancement career.
