Ron's lecture topics will be "Microphones: the Physics, the Metaphysics, and the
Philosophy" followed by "A Critical Listening Experiment: A-B Comparison",
which is a mind-and-ear-opening demonstration of comparative listening
evaluations.
The microphone lecture will be a practical and philosophical study of how the
recording process begins: the criteria that influence and determine how a
recording should be made; the art and science of the recording process;
monitoring concerns, etc.

Live "Hands-On" Recording Workshop featuring a CSU Chico student jazz quintet.
This session will involve the participants in all aspects of the recording
process: determining the manner of the recording; selection of microphones
and other equipment; setup of the recording venue; microphone rigging and
placement; cable management; signal flow and the recording process; proper
logsheets and other documentation; striking the session; etc.
