Grazyne Tresoldi

Assistant Professor

Personal Information

Grazyne Tresoldi loves cows, and that love has carried her from her home country of Brazil to California, where she joined the faculty in animal science at CSU, Chico in the fall of 2018. Tresoldi grew up in a farming family in rural Brazil but didn’t plan to study cows until a food safety internship at a small creamery led to a fascination with dairy cows' behavior and welfare.

Tresoldi holds a degree in veterinary medicine from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, a master's in agroecosystems from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, and a PhD in animal biology with an emphasis in animal behavior and stress physiology from UC Davis. Her PhD research studied dairy cows’ behavior and physiology in order to understand heat stress and identify cooling strategies to optimize cow welfare, milk production, and resource sustainability.

When she’s not teaching students or studying cows, Tresoldi enjoys photographing cows all over the world.
