Personal Information
Dr. Cynthia A. Daley completed her BS in animal science at the University of Illinois and her PhD at the University of California, Davis in 1997. In 1998, Daley accepted a position at CSU, Chico College of Agriculture.
Among Daley's more recent awards is the 2003 Wang Family Excellence Award for her accomplishments in Education of Applied Sciences. This was a real honor as the Wang Family recognizes five faculty each year from within the entire CSU system composed of 23 campuses throughout the state of California. Daley was also the recipient of the 2002 AASCARR Outstanding Teacher Award; 2002 Rotary International Educator Recognition Award; 2002/03 CSU Chico Outstanding Professor Award; Golden Key Honor Society Honorary Membership Award for pursuit of academic excellence in the classroom; the California Agriculture Teachers Association Silver Teaching Award for having a significant impact on young ag teachers in training; the Professional Development Award from the Office of Sponsored Programs for significant contributions to the field of study; and the Maggie Award for outstanding service to young women on the CSU, Chico campus.
Research and Professional Interests
Aside from her duties in the classroom, committee work and advising, Dr. Daley has been involved in a number of research activities to enhance and promote sustainable agriculture both locally and regionally, including sustainable waste management practices to reduce net nutrient loss from intensive livestock operations; nutritional aspects of labeling and marketing grass-fed beef; and more recently has been spearheading the organic certification of 85 acres at the University Farm together with Lou Ackerman, crops manager, from the Agriculture Teaching and Research Center to develop a Center for Organic Dairy Production in the West for the purposes of research and education.

Service to the College, University, and Community
Dr. Daley serves as the grand marshall for the graduation ceremony each spring and represents the college on the campuswide Animal Care and Use Committee and Sustainability Conference committee. Daley also represents the animal science program on the curriculum and farm committees, second level RTP review committee and recently chaired the Farm Administrator Search Committee.
Dr. Daley also supervises and manages the University Farm's organic dairy unit, working with a number students employed as members of the Dairy Management Team. She prepared the unit's compliance documentation for the Regional Water Quality Control Board regulations and will construct the farms first comprehensive waste management plan.
Additionally, Daley serves on the advisory board for the Western Regional Organic Dairy Producers Alliance, produces their quarterly newsletter and maintains their Web site at www.wodpa.org.
