Seven Ag Students Receive American FFA Degree
Seven California State University, Chico College of Agriculture students joined a group of 3,500 of their peers in earning an honor that less than half a percent of Future Farmers of America members receive.
Trevor Airola, Breanna Benton, Josina Conant, Hannah Lovfald, Marlisa Nordstrom, Vince Pellegri, and Jessica Vazquez will be honored with their American FFA degree on stage during the National FFA Convention, Oct. 19-22, 2011, in front of thousands of their peers.A long list of criteria has to be met to be considered for the American degree. A few of the criteria include earning and productively investing at least $7,500, or have earned and productively invested at least $1,500 and worked 2,250 hours beyond scheduled school hours through their projects, a record of outstanding leadership skills, and a record of community service.
College of Agriculture Outreach Coordinator Audrey Denney said, “Their commitment to the agricultural industry, leadership development, and personal growth truly deserves to be commended. Their work ethic, servant leadership, and passion make them the best of the best of our college.”
