Ag Students Attend FFA State Convention

California Future Farmers of America (FFA) held its annual state convention for its members in Fresno, Calif. on April 16-19.

Approximately 4,500 FFA members and guests attended the convention. Around 20 represented the California State University, Chico College of Agriculture.

CSU, Chico Agriculture Ambassadors operated a booth during the convention’s college fair. Thirteen College of Agriculture students staffed the booth, showing off the college to around 4,000 high school students. They gave out prizes and had a photo booth for the FFA members to commemorate their state convention experience.

During the convention, nine groups of two College of Agriculture students presented educational workshops on leadership development for the FFA members.

The College of Agriculture faculty also had a strong presence at the convention. Ag Education and Ag Mechanics Professor Mike Spiess helped out as the tabulations master for the California State University, Fresno FFA Field Day. Ag Education Professor Brad Dodson and Outreach Coordinator Audrey Denney judged the state speaking finals and the agri-science fair.
