FFA Field Day a Success

FFA Field Day a Success

The California State University, Chico College of Agriculture and the Butte College Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources hosted their annual FFA Field Day on March 10, 2012 at the CSU, Chico University Farm, Butte College campus and CSU, Chico campus.

Many chapters were grateful and appreciative for the contest. “The contest was well-run, and all the students involved in making it run smoothly did an excellent job,” said Los Molinos High School FFA President Shirlyn Robley. “Our chapter is eager to return for another great contest next year.”

“I’ve been involved with many FFA Field Days and never have seen one go this smoothly with this many happy teachers and participants from registration right through tabulations and awards,” said Associate Dean Dave Daley, CSU, Chico College of Agriculture.

At the end of the day the University Farm Pavilion held the majority of the 1,985 participants at the award ceremony at the end of the day. “I don’t think I’ve see the pavilion so full, and so many smiles all around,” said College of Agriculture Dean Jennifer Ryder Fox.

Many FFA chapters will go on to state finals in Fresno Calif. on April 21, and at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo on May 5.
