College of Agriculture Dean to Retire

College of Agriculture Dean Jennifer Ryder Fox has announced that she will retire from California State University, Chico in June. Fox has served as the dean of the College of Agriculture since 2006.

During her tenure, enrollment in the College of Agriculture increased 86 percent and the college added two degree programs — a bachelor’s degree in animal science in 2009 and an online master’s in agriculture education in 2012. This year, with Fox’s leadership, the College of Agriculture added three tenure-track faculty and hired additional farm staff to help support the college’s growth. Fox was also instrumental in establishing the Bell Family Presidential Scholarship with a $2 million donation to the college by Dan Giustina.

Provost Belle Wei will work with the College of Agriculture to appoint an interim dean while launching a national search to find Fox’s replacement.
