Ice Cream Social Kicks off Fall Semester

On Sept. 5 more than 300 students, staff, and faculty in the College of Agriculture came together to ring in the new school year at the University Farm with the annual ice cream social. At this event, new students are invited to learn more about the college, mingle with friends and faculty, explore upcoming events and opportunities clubs have to offer, and enjoy an ice cream sundae bar. 

The clubs present at the Social included Alpha Gamma Rho, Alpha Zeta, Animal Science Academic Quadrathalon Team, Collegiate FFA, Crop Science and Horticulture Club, Pre-Veterinary Club, Sigma Alpha, Society of Agriculture Managers, Sustainable Agriculture Club, Stock dog Association, STEM Connections Collaborative, United Students of Agriculture, and Young Cattlemen’s Association. These clubs range in motive from providing academic assistance to providing ways to gain industry experience in agriculture.

Amy Springer, freshman animal science major shared that the social was beneficial for students to learn how they can get involved. Springer said she enjoyed getting to know other students from her major and seeing how she could get involved.

“It was really fun to have the opportunity to socialize and meet new people, especially through the Bingo game at the beginning,” first-year student Kana Lopez said.
