Ag Students Put on Pink for Fundraiser
During the Diamond W National Bull Riding Championships on Sept. 17 at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds in Chico, Calif., 19 California State University, Chico College of Agriculture students teamed up with Enloe Regional Cancer Center for a “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” fundraiser to raise money and awareness for breast cancer.
The students passed pink boots around the grandstands at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds during the bull riding to collect spectators’ donations. They also helped direct parking and pitched in wherever they were needed.Laura Leidy, a senior in accounting with a minor in agriculture, said “It feels good to be able to help out and raise funds for breast cancer.”
The Tough Enough to Wear Pink fundraiser generated donations for the Enloe Cancer Connections program and the Think Pink Team of Butte County. The Cancer Connections program provides awareness, education and support for cancer patients.
