College of Agriculture Joins Sierra Oro Farm Trail
The CSU, Chico College of Agriculture is gearing up for the Sierra Oro Farm Trail Passport Weekend on October 10-11, 2009. The University Farm will be one of many destinations open to the public during the Farm Trail Passport Weekend which will run October 10 and 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Passports for the Sierra Oro Farm Trail are available online at www.sierraoro.org for $25 a person.
Activities planned at the University Farm include farm tours, product samples, and demonstrations by students of how they use the University Farm as the living laboratory in their agriculture degree programs.
In addition to the Passport Weekend activities, the College of Agriculture invites its friends, family, and alumni to a Hall of Honor Reception on Saturday, October 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. located at the University Farm Arboretum (next to the pavilion). Participants can enjoy an array of fresh cheeses, sausages, local wine and beer, a silent auction and live music as the college inducts Wittmeier Auto Center into its Hall of Honor. Wittmeier Ford and Wittmeier Chevrolet supported the college for many years as the title sponsor of the Superior Ag Golf Classic, raising money for scholarships and academic programs.
