CSU, Chico Students Attend 82nd State FFA Convention

Eighteen students represented the California State University, Chico College of Agriculture at the 82nd Annual California State FFA Convention. Agricultural Ambassadors from CSU, Chico presented educational workshops, recruited prospective students at the career fair and provided staff support during the convention, which was held April 17-20, 2010 in Fresno, Calif.

Each year Fresno hosts more than 4,000 eager high school FFA (Future Farmers of America) students, advisors, parents and guests. FFA members showcase their skills in a variety of contests, delegate committees, business sessions, workshops and leadership events. In addition, members hear motivational keynotes and retiring addresses of current officers and elect six new state officers to serve the association in the coming year.

This year CSU, Chico Ag Ambassadors put on 24 educational workshops on April 18.  The workshop topics ranged from innovative ice-breakers and proper use of a microphone to overcoming obstacles as a team. Ten ambassadors staffed the College of Ag booth at the College Fair, which was attended by nearly 4,000 FFA members on Monday, April, 19. The booth generated a lot of interest and successfully spread the word about the great opportunities that CSU, Chico offers.
