Chico State Student Wins Spot on National Beef Ambassador Team

Chico, Calif.- CSU, Chico Sophomore Katie Stroud competed in the National Beef Ambassador Competition held in Sacramento, Calif., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, and won a spot on the 2013 National Beef Ambassador Team. The animal science major earned the top score in the consumer promotion event of the competition and is one of five competitors named to the National Beef Ambassador Team.

“Katie grew up in a ranching family, so she has a great deal of knowledge about beef production,” said DeForest. “Her passion for the beef community and her charismatic personality allowed her to shine in the consumer promotion event.”

Stroud said: “This experience has already shaped my life, and I can’t wait to see where this year will take me. I’m excited to get started and can already see that my team has a common vision for promoting the beef industry.”

The 2013 National Beef Ambassador Team also includes youth from Arkansas, Alabama, Minnesota and Oregon. Stroud’s rigorous travel schedule will begin in December with training at the Certified Angus Beef headquarters in Ohio. Throughout the next year, she will travel to trainings, industry events, and consumer promotion activities to promote beef.
