Agriculture Students Recognized at University Awards Reception

Three students from the College of Agriculture won prestigious awards at the Chico State University Awards Reception on April 10. The reception, sponsored by the office of the Vice President for Student Affairs, Student Activities, and the Associated Students, honored students campuswide for their achievements and contributions to students at Chico State.

Junior Agriculture Science and Education major Marlene Romero received the Jackie Faris-Rees Leadership Award for her Chico State leadership contributions. She was also named Outstanding Student Leader for her contributions to the College of Agriculture. Seven students, one from each college, were recognized with the award for outstanding leadership skills.

The Wells Fargo Awards were given to students who showed exceptional community service. Senior Agriculture Business major Elizabeth Hurd was one of three who received the award for volunteering above and beyond for various organizations within Chico State and the community.  

Junior Animal Science major Taylor Herren received the Ron Rhode Memorial CAVE scholarship for her volunteer work through the Community Action Volunteers in Education (CAVE) organization. She also received the Outstanding Student Service Award from the CSU, Chico Advisory Board.
