Project Overview |

|
The plan to renovate Alumni Glen started in 2005 with a vision to create a more useable campus space with a beautiful creek view. The Alumni Association did much of the fundraising for the project, raising the funds necessary to demolish and level the area for the concrete pad, install the new pad, and provide for basic landscaping of the area. Students from the Concrete Industry Management Program, under the student leadership of David Harrington and faculty leadership of Tanya Wattenburg Komas, led the process of designing, pouring, and coloring the concrete pad and seating walls. Embedded into the seating wall is the original plaque installed in the area in 1955 by Delta Psi Delta fraternity brothers memorializing fallen brother Dick Lewis who was killed in the Korean Conflict. The Flame Sculpture also now makes its home in Alumni Glen. Originally installed at the campus entrance at the intersection of First and Salem Streets, the flame was created in 1973 and was moved to Alumni Glen in June 2011. |
