What is an alumni ambassador?

An alumni ambassador is a Chico State alum, parent, or friend who is concerned about higher education in California and advocates CSU policy objectives and priorities with the legislative and executive branches of government. Our political decision makers need to hear from you—the voters—about the concerns of the CSU.

An alumni advocate participates in the legislative process by writing, calling, e-mailing, or visiting their legislators and sharing their views on the importance of public education in the State of California.

How to be an effective advocate

We can provide you with information and talking points for important issues facing the CSU.

Here are some suggestions to make your legislative contact an effective one:

  • With current concerns regarding the safety of “snail mail,” we suggest you send your legislator an E-mail instead.
  • If making a personal visit, please schedule well in advance and keep your appointment brief and to the point.
  • Leave a summary of your concerns and request that the legislator follow up with you.
  • Always remember to say "thank you," both in person and in writing.
