The Wayne Harder Memorial Scholarship

The Chico Chapter is sponsoring the brand new Wayne Harder Memorial Scholarship for the 2008-2009 academic year! The scholarship is for $2,000 ($1,000 awarded each semester) and is awarded to a new or returning Chico State Student from the prefaced 959 or 960 zip codes (essentially from Redding to Marysville) who is the dependent of a Chico Chapter Alumni Association member. This scholarship requires a minimum GPA of 3.0 and is funded by the proceeds from the annual Chico Chapter Spring Tri-Tip Barbecue.

This scholarship is named for founding Chico Chapter board member Wayne Harder who passed away on November 25, 2007. Wayne was committed to the alumni and students of Chico State, and to making the University better. Wayne will be greatly missed by the entire community.

Applicants must complete the CSU, Chico Scholarship Application on the Financial Aid Web site (by January 1, 2008), and must complete the Alumni Association Supplemental Scholarship Application (by February 1, 2008).

Graham Whitney Scholarship

The Graham Whitney Scholarship, endowed by the Whitney family in the name of Chico State alum Graham Whitney (class of 1957), is awarded to an incoming freshman who has graduated from the Chico Unified School District. Whitney, a former Alumni Association president, founded the Chico Chapter Scholarship Development program. The scholarship was initiated in June 1999, and is funded by the proceeds from sales of water during the undergraduate commencement ceremonies.

Apply on the Financial Aid Web site.

President's Scholars

The President's Scholars Program was launched in September 1995 as a commitment to academic excellence.

The Alumni Association funds one of ten scholarships of $12,000 each ($3,000 per year for four years). The scholarship is awarded to a student with superior academic accomplishment in high school who participates in the President's Scholar competition. In addition to the $12,000 scholarship, three $1,000 scholarships are funded by the Alumni Association for students who participate in the competition but do not receive the $12,000 scholarship, and do enroll in the University.

Recipients of the scholarships are determined by results of competitive examinations taken at the CSU, Chico campus.
