My Service Counts – More than Halfway to Our Goal!
My Service Counts CSU Chico Scoreboard
The hours logged for My Service Counts (MSC) have exceeded 69,000 in a combined effort between the campus community and Chico State alumni, parents, and friends! Congrats and thank you to those who have participated to help us reach our goal of 125,000 service hours for 2012.

Logging your service hours is now easier than ever! Just use the CSU Chico My Service Counts application and answer the five easy questions telling us about your service hours. Whether you are serving on a board in your community, working with a non-profit organization, or participating in an environmental cleanup, we want to know how you are making a difference! Service hours are valid from January 1 - December 31, 2012. Help Chico State complete this 2012 challenge of performing and logging 125,000 hours of service in honor of Chico State’s 125th Anniversary. To learn more visit our FAQ page or email myservicecounts@csuchico.edu.

Remember to participate in the My Service Counts Day of Service at One Mile Recreation Area on Sunday, August 26, as part of the Wildcat Welcome celebration. A clean-up will be conducted at One-Mile from 9 – 11 a.m. Please wear closed-toed shoes and bring sunscreen if you plan to participate. For more information or questions about the Day of Service please contact Sara Johnson at scjohnson@csuchico.edu.

Alumni Day at AT&T Park
Alumni at AT&T Park!
The Bay Area Chapter hosted the Annual Alumni Day at AT&T Park on Sunday, July 29. More than 140 alumni joined us for the tailgate event prior to the Giants vs. Dodgers game (and for all you Dodger fans out there, yes, the Giants did lose). A huge thank you to Sierra Nevada for donating the beer for our event, and to Liberty Mutual for providing commemorative T-shirts for all to wear. This event sells out every year, so it is 100 percent likely we will be doing this again in 2013. Watch the Alumni Association website, or join our Facebook group to buy tickets for next year. We should have our date selected by early January.

1955-1965 Era Reunion
1955-1965 Reunion Committee

1955-1965 Reunion Committee

We want you! Calling all 50’s and 60’s CSC/CSU, Chico ’Cats for a howling good time in Chico this October 12 and 13. Whether you are a child of the 50’s who rocked to the sounds of Elvis, Chuck Berry, and Bobby Darin or a child of the 60’s who shimmied to the Beach Boys, Beatles, and Bob Dylan, please join us for a memorable two-day reunion at the scene of some of the best times of your life.

It doesn’t matter whether you graduated, dropped out, transferred, took a unit or two or were, or are now, the significant other of someone who fills that bill. Your only requirement (no one will check) is that you set foot on the Chico State campus sometime between 1955 and 1965 and would like to see old faces, renew old friendships, reminisce (exaggerate) about old experiences or just enjoy the "feel-good" that comes from being in Chico and on campus again that time of the year.

We already have more than 150 people who have committed and hope to exceed the 300 who attended three years ago. Lots of activities are planned, like golf on Friday, the 12th, a barbeque that evening, and a gala (just like in the day) dinner dance at Bell Memorial Student Union on campus the evening of the 13th.

For details and registration forms, please go to 1955–1965 alumni website. Registration forms and payment must be received by Friday, October 5. Time’s a wasting, though. Don’t miss this opportunity; you won’t regret it. In the words of George Zimmer, "I guarantee it."

For more information on the reunion, click here.

Also, all grads from 1962 and earlier are invited to the Golden Grad Brunch and opening of the 1962 time capsule on Saturday, October 13. More info can be found here. Need a hotel room while you are in Chico? Contact The Oxford Suites and ask for the CSU, Chico Alumni Rate! Rate includes a full, hot breakfast buffet, evening reception with two free drink tickets. Contact The Oxford Suites at 800-870-7848 or click here to visit their website.

New Graduates Get Guaranteed Coverage!
Graduates are covered!
If you’re a recent graduate, don’t risk going without health coverage. Even a brief lapse in coverage could have disastrous results if you get sick or injured. Through the Alumni Association, new graduates under age 40 are eligible to apply for guaranteed acceptance coverage with Blue Shield of California (must apply within 135 days of graduation). Several coverage options are available to meet your specific needs – and budget. Click here or call 877.249.7868 to learn more today!

Don’t risk going without health coverage
With today’s rising medical costs, no alumni - even those in perfect health - should risk going without medical coverage. A split-second car accident or a trip to the emergency room caused by a sudden illness or injury can carry devastating financial implications. To help you reduce your risks, the CSU Chico Alumni Association offers a special medical coverage option through Blue Shield of California for alumni under age 40. Click here or call 877.249.7868 to learn more today!
