Willie Simmons Bench Dedication

In celebration of his contributions to past Chico State athletes and students, a group of former athletes are celebrating the life of Coach Willie Simmons at noon on Saturday, October 10, 2009 in front of Acker Gym. We will recognize Coach Simmons by dedicating a bench in his honor that will reside in an area between the main entrance to the athletic complex and the entrance to Acker Gym. A no-host lunch will follow at the Graduate at 1:00 p.m.

Special Request: We are asking for donations to help cover the cost of the permanent honorary bench. Please send your donation in any amount to: University Fund, California State University at Chico, Chico, CA, 95929 and make your check payable to “University Fund – Simmons Bench Fund”, noting on check “Account 06655." Your sending your donation as soon as possible allows us to move ahead and plan accordingly. All donors will be listed on a document and presented to Willie at the dedication. All excess funds collected will go towards the creation of a Willie Simmons Scholarship. Thank you!!

Join the Chico Alumni Chapter for the annual Fall Mixer, held in conjunction with Chico State Family Weekend. Join fellow alumni and friends at the Warrens Reception Center starting at 5:00 p.m. for hors d'oeuvres and no-host bar. Tickets are $5 per person and can be purchased at the event.

Join the Chico Alumni Chapter for hospitality receptions and a seatback seat at the Chico State men's and women's basketball games on January 29. Reception will be held in Shurmer Gym and will start during half-time of the women's game and will close at the start of the men's game. Game time is 5:30 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men.  

Tickets to the receptions and game are $12.00 each and include hors d'oeuvres, no-host bar and a seatback ticket to the games. Reception-only tickets are available for $7.00 each.

This event is sponsored by the Chico Chapter of the Chico State Alumni Association and is open to everyone (you need not be an alum).  For more information, or to order tickets, please call the alumni office at 530-898-6472.

The Bay Area Chapter will host an alumni pre-game event in Club 200 at Oracle arena in conjunction with the Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings basketball game in Oakland.
