RECR Department Students Learn How to Run a Conference

Zoe Pennington

Chico State sent 40 Recreation, Hospitality, and Parks Management students to help work the Annual AutoDesk University Conference in Las Vegas, Nev., December 1-6, 2013. Students worked registration, materials give-away, directions, room scanning, and hosting positions at the conference, which had close to 10,000 attendees.

“It's so energizing to watch as students who have chosen meeting and conference planning as a career path see their goals and ambitions validated," said Polly Crabtree, trip chaperone and Associate Director of Alumni and Parent Relations. "Working the conference is very hard work – most days are 12 hours – and for students to have this work experience before they graduate is incredible.”

Participation in the conference is made possible through enrollment in RECR department Field School. See their Facebook page for more information or call the RECR Department at 530-898-6408.
