Campus Banners Highlight Unity
This spring saw the installation of three new banner series on campus. The banners shown (left) feature close up photos of students, faculty, and staff with the phrases "We Are One University" and 'We Are Chico State." The project was designed by alum Christian Burke ('94) and photographed by University Photographer Jason Halley ('05). They have been a huge hit with the campus community and visitors alike. Also new to the campus are banners on the south side of the creek with the campus motto "Today Decides Tomorrow" translated into 16 different languages. A third series marks the Normal Ave. campus entry with the words "Today Decides Tomorrow" and "Creativity Happens Here" designed to match the entry gates to the new Arts and Humanities Building. Alumni Spotlight: Jimmy Lillard, '04
Jimmy Lillard (BA, Media Arts) has loved filmmaking and storytelling ever since he took a video production class at his high school in Santa Maria, and he knew then he was going to make a career out of it. When he attended Chico State, he was determined to make that happen any way he could. He worked at the local NBC, CBS, and Fox affiliates cutting commercials and producing local talk shows; spent countless hours in video production labs checking out equipment and learning to edit iMovie; and even starred in a one-act student play as a Cupid-like character. Read more about Lillard's work on Pixar's Inside Out and Finding Dory.
