Students Raise Money for Cancer Research at 'Up 'til Dawn'

Record numbers of dollars raised and students participating are goals for this year’s Up ‘til Dawn to be held Monday, Nov. 4, in Acker Gym from 4 p.m. to midnight.

For the 13th year, Chico State students will gather to write letters raising funds for Memphis-based St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which conducts research and provides treatment free of charge to families for childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Up ‘til Dawn is Chico State's single largest student-led fundraiser, attracting more than 2,000 students to participate and raising more than $100,000 each year.

Last year, students raised $112,000 in a national fundraising competition with other universities, placing second to University of Memphis. CSU, Chico has been national champion five of the past seven years.

Student Jaypinderpal Virdee, Chico State's Up 'til Dawn executive director, said this year’s goal is to raise between $150,000 and $200,000. Alumni are invited to attend the event and join students in this fundraising campaign. For more information, visit the Up 'til Dawn Facebook page.
