President Zingg joined Early at Chico Paper Company to reveal the final piece, "Downtown Fun." Guests admired the print as they enjoyed sweet treats from Lovely Layers Cakery.

Then, on Saturday, there was a record breaking turnout of 1,580 parents and students at the Family Weekend BBQ. Families enjoyed beautiful weather and delicious sandwiches from Kinders out on Yolo Lawn. They especially loved taking family photos with Willie the Wildcat!

Fall MixerOver 140 Chico State alumni gathered across the North State on the evening of Thursday, October 16 to celebrate the Chico Experience and connect with other graduates. Here in Chico, the Chico Alumni Chapter hosted their annual Fall Mixer at the Gateway Science Museum. Guests were able to explore the museum galleries after hours while catching up with friends and fellow alumni. In the Bay Area, alumni convened at Sierra Nevada's Torpedo Room for their Chico Experience. Food was provided from a local food truck and all guests received a Chico State Alum pennant. That same night, Sacramento alumni met up at the Hot Italian to enjoy pizza and drinks. Needless to say, they all had a great time reminiscing over their days in Chico!

Alumni in Action - Reanna Leitaker

Reanna Leitaker graduated from Chico State in 2007 with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation she started her career in San Francisco working for a public professional services firm, KPMG. After four and a half years at KMPG, she took a job in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil with Ernst and Young. She currently lives in London working for Ernst and Young.

Leitaker's first overseas job was in Oman and she has quite a story to share about her experience there:

"My first job was in Oman. I didn't know anyone and was quite ignorant about the middle east. I reached out on Facebook, 'Hey friends, anyone been to Oman? Can you give me advice?' Interestingly enough a fellow Chico State classmate, Joe Kushing, sent me a message saying he was living there and gave me great information.

I started the job and stayed for two weeks. I was working on an oil and gas client and the professionals were fun, showed us around, and even invited us to their house for drinks. Really friendly for professionals living in the city. On one of the last nights we were talking about colleges. We both said how we loved our life in college and that it was the best time of our lives. My client said, 'I went to a small school in California, you probably haven't heard of it...it's a small school in the north.' I responded that my experience was the same at a school called Chico. They nearly fell off the chair. How did two successful graduates from Chico end up in Muscat and how was I sent there to help them? We celebrated our years in Chico in a small town and now not only do I have a client for life, but a friend that I owe Chico State shirts to."
