Dr. Peter Smits

President Paul Zingg announced earlier this month that Peter Smits, vice president emeritus at CSU, Fresno, has accepted a position as interim vice president for University Advancement.

Smits replaces Rick Ellison, vice president for University Advancement since 2005, who has accepted a new position in advancement at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Smits was vice president at Fresno State for 20 years and was responsible for Fresno State's programs in development and fundraising, university communications, endowment management and alumni relations.

In a message to campus, Zingg said, "After meeting several times with senior leaders in Advancement, the consensus was to bring in an interim VP with extensive advancement experience who knows our campus and our strategic priorities. Peter Smits is exactly that person." More

 Petco Park Event
On Saturday, September 20th, San Diego alumni (and a future alum featured in the photo!) came together for the Giants versus Padres alumni event at Petco Park. Wildcats had a great time reconnecting with one another in the private seating available just for Chico State alumni. All alumni who attended were given a "Chico State Alum" pennant and "Proud Chico State" button. This annual event sells out every year - we hope to see you there next year!
