Prabhakar Kalavacherla “PK”

Prabhakar Kalavacherla (“PK”) has worked in the United States as an audit partner in the San Francisco office of KPMG LLP, in India, where he led KPMG’s US GAAP practice, and in Europe. PK has specialized in the technology and biotechnology fields. He is a member of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He travels frequently to Asian countries to participate in seminars on policy issues associated with standard-setting, and he helps the International Financial Reporting Standards Board in addressing country-specific accounting issues. PK serves as a US Trustee for the Food for Life Organization, an organization that feeds more than 1.3 million school children in India every school day.

Thomas P. Villa

Honor Year: 2011

Thomas Villa has logged more than 225,000 air miles in travel for his role with Verizon Wireless, and most have been international miles as he oversees all of the company’s customer operations functions, including customer care and installations. Following graduation from Chico State, Villa received his MBA in finance from the University of San Francisco. Villa began his career in telecommunications with Pacific Bell and has worked for SureWest, AirTouch, and oversees on several cellular startups. Villa met his wife, Karyl (Knopp) through her sister Karen, a classmate of Villa’s at Chico State. The couple has two children—daughter Lauren, a junior at UC Davis, and son Paul, a high school junior who considers Chico State his first choice for fall 2012.

Scott T. Hanson

College of Business

Honor Year: 2010

Identified as one of the 25 most influential people in the financial services industry by Investment Advisor magazine, Scott Hanson is a frequent guest on Fox News, and has contributed to publications in The Wall Street Journal, Kiplinger’s, and other financial industry publications. He is the author of Money Matters: Essential Tips & Tools for Building Financial Peace of Mind, a comprehensive guide for managing financial issues. Hanson and his business partner host a weekly call-in investment and financial information radio talk show on Sacramento’s largest AM radio station. Hanson also serves on several boards and foundations, and is currently chair of the Sacramento Generosity Project, a research and marketing project designed to increase philanthropy in the Sacramento area.

Steven R. Perricone

Steven Perricone is a serial entrepreneur involved now in his fourth consecutive start-up, BioFuelBox. The key objectives of BioFuelBox are eliminating waste streams and enabling local communities and companies to be energy independent. Perricone founded this company with former colleagues to both solve important environmental problems and to help grow the cleantech industry. Prior to this endeavor, Perricone was vice president of Worldwide Sales for SonicWALL. He joined SonicWALL when it had fewer than 20 employees, and was instrumental in guiding the company’s growth to more than 450 employees worldwide, an IPO, and a market cap of $3.5 billion in less than three years. SonicWALL is still in business and continues to be very successful.

R. Scott Chalmers

In addition to his responsibilities as president of RSC Associates, Inc., a residential and commercial property management firm with offices in Chico and Sacramento, Scott Chalmers serves as chair of the University Foundation Board of Governors and as director for Golden Valley Bank and Golden Valley Bank Foundation. Chalmers and his wife, Cindy, have established three separate scholarships for students at Chico State and Butte Community College, and were joint recipients of the 2004 Boys and Girls Club Annual Humanitarian Award and the 2006 Rotary Community Service Award. The entire Chalmers family—Scott, Cindy, and their two daughters, Cara and Christa—attended Chico State.

Daniel G. Moffat

Honor Year: 2007

Daniel A. Moffat joined GTA January 2007 as President and Chief Executive Officer and is based on Guam. Prior to joining GTA, Moffat was Executive Vice President with EarthLink. He was co-founder, president and CEO of New Edge Networks Inc., a Vancouver, Washington-based company that builds and manages private networks for businesses and communications providers that merged with Earth Link in April 2006. Moffat has 25 years experience in the telecommunications industry and has pioneered various ventures. He was named the Frost and Sullivan Telecom CEO of the Year for 2005. In his spare time, Moffat participates in Ironman Triathlons and has eight finishes.

Scott A. Bedford

Scott Bedford began his career in the investment field in 1983 with the New York-based investment firm L.F. Rothschild, Unterberg, Towbin. In 1986, he became the youngest vice president in the firm. Bedford left L. F. Rothschild in 1987 to start up the firm, Volpe Covington, and serve as general partner. Volpe Covington was the biggest financed start-up investment banking firm in Wall Street history. He left Volpe Covington to start Peninsula Capital Management in 1989. Bedford has been named the college of Business Executive of the Year, and serves on the Board of Trustees for St. Matthew Episcopal Day School in Burlingame, California.

Charles E. Seufferlein

College of Business

Charles "Chuck" E. Seufferlein began his career in commercial real estate in 1975 while working toward completion of his MBA at the University of Santa Clara. Seufferlein worked for Coldwell Banker for ten years, served six years as President and partner at The Sammis Development Company, and returned to CB Commercial (Coldwell Banker) in 1991 as the Silicon Valley office Senior Vice President/Managing Officer. He was awarded the Frank J. Mahoney Leadership Award for Management by the CB Commercial Board of Directors for both 1992 and 1993. In 1995, Seufferlein left CB Commercial for Cornish & Carey Commercial, where he served as Executive Vice President and Partner, Chief Executive Officer, and as of June 2002, President and CEO.

Karl E. Bakhtiari

Honor Year: 2003

Karl E. Bakhtiari is the founder, president/CEO, and director of Stonesfair Financial Corporation and has a long history of financial successes in the real estate industry. He served as a board member for ten years for the Stoneson Development Corporation and Stoneson Associates, two major real estate development and construction corporations in the San Francisco Bay Area. The company developed and owned the Stonestown Galleria and the Stonestown Apartments, an 820-unit complex in San Francisco. Bakhtiari has spent the past nine years successfully acquiring and operating approximately 2,000 apartment units in Northern California and Montana. Bakhtiari holds both M.B.A. and B.S. degrees from CSU, Chico, and is a board member of Chico State's business advisory board.

Brian Storm

Brian Storm began his business career right out of college at Ernst & Young LLP. After 20 years, Storm made the move to SureWest Communications, which includes the Roseville Telephone Company, the largest local exchange telephone company headquartered in California. He was promoted to President and CEO and elected to the company’s board of directors in 1993. Storm was selected Roseville Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the Year for 2001, and Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce Businessperson of the year for 2002. He serves as Vice Chairman of the United States Telecom Association and Chairman of the California Telephone Association and is active in numerous community organizations.

D. Craig Young

D. Craig Young’s long career in the telecommunications industry began in 1979 with his first position as an Account Executive with Executone Information Systems. He served in numerous Vice President and Senior Office positions at US West and Ameritech, and was President and COO for Brooks Fiber Properties, Inc.  In 1999, as President and CEO of MetroNet Communications, Canada’s largest competitive telephone company, Young orchestrated the sale of MetroNet to AT&T for $6 billion. Young is on the Board of Directors for five organizations and has served on many community service boards.

Keith Bewley

College of Business

Keith Bewley, president of NEx Systems, has thirteen years' experience in the new industry development. He was a co-founder of California Cooler, Inc., the pioneering firm of the wine cooler industry. Following the $180-million sale of California Cooler, Inc., Bewley was a co-founder of LINC Venture Partners, Inc., where he specialized in analyzing business plans and funding start-up companies. As an outgrowth of his involvement with LINC, Bewley assumed the position of president of NEx Systems, with has developed a 100 percent organic, environmentally safe dry cleaning and fiber protection program. During his tenure at California Cooler, Bewley was a board member and president of the Scramento-San Joaquin Wine and Food Society. He received special recognition by the beverage industry for the development of the Four Pack, and won the Beverage Industries first place award for Point of Sale materials.

Kim Foss-Erickson

Kim Foss-Erickson is the founder and president/CEO of E & A Investment Advisory, Inc., a "fee only" registered investment firm. Foss-Erickson founded the firm in 1989, and it was recently awarded the DALBAR Financial Professional Seal and rated by DALBAR as one of the "Top 10% Most Outstanding 'Fee-Only' Investment Advisory Firms in the United States." Foss-Erickson earned a B.A. in business in 1984 from CSU, Chico and received her certified financial planner professional designation in 1991. At the time of induction, Foss-Erickson was pursuing her chartered financial analyst designation. Following her graduation, Foss-Erickson joined Merrill Lynch & Co, where she was a lead member of the team to open the San Ramon, CA office of the firm in 1985. During her tenure at Merrill Lynch & Co., she was an account broker, mutual fund coordinator, and insurance analyst. She has more than sixteen years of experience in the financial service business, managing $35 million of high net worth individual and pension plans. During her time in Chico, Foss-Erickson was a member of Phi Chi Theta Professional Business Fraternity for Women. In her professional life she has served on numerous committees and boards in a leadership capacity, including the Board of Directors of the CSU, Chico Alumni Association, where she helped to establish the alumni chapter in San Diego. She has also given her time and talent to Soroptimist International, Rotary International, the International Association of Financial Planners, the Temecula Valley and Roseville Chambers of Commerce, and the Institute of Certified Financial Planners.

Bruce W. McDougal *

Honor Year: 1996

Following graduation, Bruce McDougall joined the staff of Price Waterhouse in Sacramento, the first CSU, Chico graduate to be hired in that office. From 1966 through 1969, McDougall served as an officer in the United States Navy. After his military duty, McDougall was promoted to manager with Price Waterhouse in Cincinnati. His interest in entrepreneurial involvement grew, and in 1973 he became CFO of Genway Corporation in Chicago, IL. Genway provided lease financing to General Motors dealers nationally. In 1982, McDougall became Director and CFO of Warren Capital Corporation, which provides corporate and commercial financial services to privately owned companies. He subsequently was appointed Director in 1982 and CEO 1986. In 1992, McDougall purchased Summit Software, Inc., a publisher of lease accounting software for personal computers which is sold to banks and leasing companies across the nation. More recently, Summit began offering World Wide Web services to commercial customers. Also in 1992, McDougall was part of a group of investors who acquired Universal Savings Bank, Inc. in Milwaukee. During this time, he was recruited by Ladco Financial Group, Inc. as CFO - to help guide the company through rapid growth.
