The Association for Northern California Historical Research is a non-profit group working to support historical research in Northern California. Our mission is to increase the understanding and appreciation of Northeastern California History through encouraging and promoting programs of historical research and publication, and encouraging the preservation of and access to historical public, business, and private records, oral history, video, film, and photographs.
Old Days in Butte - A Glamous Tale of Butte County by Florence Danforth Boyle. This compilation of newspaper articles published in the Oroville Mercury Register between November 1941 and September 1943 tells the story of Butte County in easy-to-read episodes. Written by late historian Florence Danforth Boyle, the Mercury Register advertised the series as "A glamourous history of Butte County, town by town," and promised "adventure, romance, comedy, murder, thrilling experiences from the days of 1949."
