Need to purchase paper? GO GREEN!

Did you know it takes one tree to produce 16.67 reams of paper? The CSU Chico Campus Conservation Committee (CCC) is asking you to do your part to reduce waste by going green.

The CCC recommends purchasing paper at a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste recycled content for the following reasons:

• Your decision to buy recycled paper impacts CSU, Chico’s strategic goal of sustainability. Strategic Priority #6 states, “…our individual and collective actions have economic, social, and environmental consequences locally, regionally, and globally.”

• By purchasing recycled paper, you reduce dependence upon natural resources, decrease energy use by 44%, and reduce impact to landfills by 50%! See the Paper Task Force Recommendation for more information.

For only $0.37 more per ream you can purchase 30% recycled copy paper compared to non-recycled. 140 trees will be saved annually when all departments switch to purchasing a minimum 30% recycled paper, (based on annual paper purchases from Office Max contract).
