First Street and Normal Ave Utilities Construction

SUBJECT: First Street and Normal Ave Utilities Construction
On July 1st the campus began the underground work to replace (upgrade) and relocate the steam, sewer, and storm drain lines between PAC and the existing Taylor Hall in preparation for the main Taylor II Replacement Building project. It is necessary to perform this critical infrastructure work in the summer, as not to disrupt steam to PAC during the winter, and for construction staging and sequencing for the main Taylor II Replacement Building project.
During the construction, First Street (between Normal Ave and Laxson Hall) and Normal Avenue (between First and Second Street) will be closed. The sidewalk on the west side of Normal Ave will be open to pedestrian traffic. There may be occasional times when the sidewalk on the west side of Normal Ave will need to be closed. During these times, the east sidewalk will then be open. Signage will be posted. First Street will be open by August 12, 2013; however, there will still be work taking place on Normal Ave, which is estimated to be completed by October 31, 2013.
