Faculty and Student Mentor Program - August 24
We are currently looking for Faculty and student mentors to participate in an important new Faculty and Student Mentor Program, to be held during Wildcat Welcome on Saturday, August 24, 2013.
Incoming first-year students will engage in small group discussions with a student and faculty mentor aimed to increase students’ connection to the university and address the expectations and challenges related to student success. This is an opportunity for students to begin their tenure at CSU, Chico with an immediate connection to a faculty member, and a better understanding of how to thrive while here. Students often cite connection to faculty and community as an important factor in their success, and we hope that this program fosters that connection. Your participation in the program is crucial to providing guidance for a more successful transition to student life.
There will be three sessions during the day, one at 9:30, 10:30 and 1:15. Lunch will be provided. We hope to have faculty and mentors participate in all three of the sessions, but understand that may not always be possible.
If you feel as though you or your program’s students would be interested in participating, please RSVP to Ellie Ertle at eertle@csuchico.edu with the following information:
- Your contact information and department/program;
- Which sessions you will be able to attend;
- If you will be able to attend the luncheon (along with any special dietary restrictions);
- Your t-shirt size — all volunteers will receive a free official Wildcat Welcome 2013 t-shirt!
Thank you in advance for your participation in welcoming the newest members of our community as they embark on their academic careers!
