BCCER Fall Naturalist Outings

Don’t miss the Big Chico Creek Ecological Reserve Fall Naturalist Outings.  Featured this Saturday, October 27th from 9:00-4:00 is the Native American Acorn Harvest.

As part of the CSUC Ecological Reserves Fall Naturalist Outings, Mechoopda Maidu tribal member Ali Knight will teach the traditional practices surrounding acorns. This outing will focus on harvesting, processing and storing. Participants will have a chance to harvest and process acorns, hands-on.   Ali, with the help of tribal elders, will cover making a traditional acorn granary using native plants in the CSU, Chico Ecological Reserves.

Hike Difficulty: Easy-Moderate

Fee: $5.00 per person

Meeting place: Chico Park-n-Ride western most lot on Hwy 32 just east of Hwy 99
