Gateway Science Museum’s spring 2012 Museum Without Walls Lecture Series concludes May 2 with a focus on collaborative pollinator conservation efforts. Two experts from the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service will discuss how local partnerships are enhancing agriculture with pollinators.

Rachael Morgan, a soil conservationist, and Tom Moore, state wildlife biologist, will highlight an ongoing NRCS partnership with the Xerces Society and local resource conservation districts to provide training on native bees and their habitat requirements. On the local level, farmers have been able to reap the benefits of NRCS assistance to enhance habitat for pollinators. From cover crops to integrated pest management, pollinators are benefitted from the good stewardship of local farmers. Some examples of projects completed by farmers here in Butte County will be showcased.
