"Reel Life: Let's Talk About Pills" Wednesday, April 23
CADEC Peer Educators Invite You to: “Reel Life: Let’s Talk About Pills” as part of Prescription Drug Awareness Week
Please join Campus Alcohol and Drug Education Center Peer Educators for a viewing of MTV's "True Life: I'm Addicted to Pills" complemented by a panel discussion featuring students who have struggled with substance abuse and experts in the field. This event is part of Prescription Drug Awareness Week. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has classified prescription drug abuse as an epidemic. While there has been a marked decrease in the use of some illegal drugs like cocaine, data from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) show that nearly one-third of people aged 12 and over who used drugs for the first time in 2009 began by using a prescription drug non-medically. (Office for National Drug Control Policy) This is event is designed to raise knowledge and understanding of the epidemic of prescription abuse and approaches to successful recovery, particularly for youth and young adults.
