Choral Groups to Perform "Royal" Music Program on October 20

The CSU, Chico Choirs present their first concert of the 2012-13 academic year on Saturday, October 20th at 7:30 p.m. in Harlen Adams Theatre.

Entitled “Music for a Royal Court,” this concert highlights pieces written for royalty throughout the history of Western Art Music, including coronation anthems by G.F. Handel, John Blow, and Hubert Parry.

“Music for a Royal Court” will conclude with all the singers of the choral department combining on stage to perform I Was Glad When They Said Unto Me, by Hubert Parry.

“This should be a very exciting conclusion to the concert,” said Choral Director David Scholz. “There will be nearly 150 singers on stage, and this final piece is accompanied by the grand CSU, Chico Centennial Pipe Organ. Those people that watched Prince William and Kate’s wedding last year will recognize this piece as the processional of the wedding.”
