See "Apples Farm to Fork" Film on Food Day
The award-winning mini-documentary “Apples Farm to Fork: Meet Bryan Howard” and two other locally produced videos in the same series (kiwis and carrots) will be shown continuously during this year’s Food Day celebration on campus. Produced by Sheila St. Cin and Gina Sims from CSU, Chico’s Center for Nutrition and Activity Promotion (CNAP) and its Farmer of the Month program, “Apples Farm to Fork” focuses on farmer Bryan Howard and the 100-acre north Chico ranch owned by his family since 1870. To see the films, just come to Food Day at Selvester’s Café on Thursday, October 24 and head to the CNAP table.
Food Day is a nationwide celebration of healthy, affordable, and sustainably produced food, and a grassroots campaign for better food policies. Envisioning shorter lines at fast-food drive-throughs and bigger crowds at farmers markets, Food Day aims to help people “eat real,” which means cutting back on sugar drinks, salty packaged foods, and fatty, factory-farmed meats in favor of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and sustainably raised protein. CNAP is hosting Food Day events on Thursday, October 24, for the third consecutive year, in conjunction with other campus groups and organizations.
