Did Darwin Write "The Origin" Backward? Oct. 25
Dr. Elliott Sober, professor of philosophy at University of Wisconsin, Madison, will be giving a talk this Friday, October 25th from 5:00pm-7:00pm in BMU 210 titled: "Did Darwin Write the Origin Backwards?"
The abstract of his talk:
Two central ideas in Darwin's theory of evolution are common ancestry and natural selection. After describing each, I'll discuss how these ideas are related to each other in the theory. This may help answer the question of why Darwin emphasizes natural selection at the beginning of The Origin of Species and defends the big picture of common ancestry only later.
This event will be sponsored by the philosophy club.
