General admission tickets cost $13, $10 for students (pre-sale) and $15 at the door.

Attendees are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance at the University Box Office located at the corner of Third and Chestnut near the Chico State Police Station. The AS Gender and Sexuality Equity Center’s annual spring production of the global V-Day campaign to end violence against women through The Vagina Monologues discusses sexual abuse, women’s libido and women’s experiences—to evoke smiles, tears and a sense of women’s empowerment. The Vagina Monologues is performed by Chico State actresses that tell the story of over 200 interviewed women that made up the 1994 script of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play.

Kelly Reynolds and Krystal Elebiary volunteered their time to Co-Direct The Vagina Monologues. The Directors have used their talents to put a new twist on the monologues. "Vagina Monologues is not a show--it is not about acting or production value or incredible lighting displays. Vagina Monologues is a collection of REAL stories from REAL women, shared by REAL women, not actors. We are not here to play a part, but rather simply share the words of our mothers, sisters, and friends. Eve Ensler created this amazing gift as a means to spread awareness, give a voice to the unspoken and unheard, and most of all, to unite men and women in their fight against violence. VDAY is a cause worth fighting for, and we hope that our production will bring light to the fact that anybody can be involved, if they want to be.”

“Both of us have performed in Vagina Monologues before, but we realized that maybe those of us familiar (or unfamiliar for that matter) with the VDAY movement, had lost sight of why we do this show. What does it all mean? What are the words we are saying? We forget that these are real stories, real words...perhaps not our own, but nonetheless, they deserve to be shared. That's why we decided to "strip" the show down, so to speak--return Vagina Monologues to it's roots, the way Eve Ensler intended. Simplicity at its finest, with women unafraid to share a bit of themselves along with the stories they tell" stated the Co-Directors.

This event is put on by the staff at The GSEC, which is an expansion of the Women’s Center as part of our efforts to promote human rights and the equal representation of marginalized students on Chico State’s campus. The GSEC provides a secure and identifiable space for students to collaborate, plan events, voice concerns and connect with the university while striving toward common goals of promoting equal rights and representation in our community.
