CSU, Chico's SOTA Productions and Songwriters Music Guild Presents: “Chico Unplugged”
Starting Thursday, February 21st, Chico State’s SOTA Productions in conjunction with the Songwriters Music Guild will be hosting a 3-week series singer/songwriter showcase. The event will be taking place at Woodstock’s Pizza in downtown Chico from 7-9pm and will be occurring February 28th and once again on March 7th. This event will be judged by a small panel consisting of students, faculty and members of the local community. Winners of the showcase will receive an opportunity to have their work recorded by Chico State’s very own mobile recording team. In the past this event has helped local songwriters get their work heard, and for some recorded.
Each artist must perform two original songs using acoustic-only instruments. Admission is free for those interested in participating in the showcase as well as those who just want to listen. For more information about the event, how to be a sponsor or how to get involved, please contact Nathan Grant: email@example.com
SOTA Productions is a newly formed student run collective that specializes in artist development, management, production and marketing on CSU Chico’s campus. The SOTA’s students are involved in finding, developing and promoting local musical artists. In recognition of SOTA’s efforts, several class members have been appointed to local talent selection committees for the arts. These committees include the Chico News & Review with respect to the Cammie Awards, and the Downtown Chico Business Association’s 17 week music series.
