Want a job? Become a REACH Mentor! Accepting Applications Now!

Looking for an on-campus job that motivates you and allows you to be the leader that you are? Well, a new academically-focused and peer-mentor-driven program is looking for ten new mentors for fall 2014.

REACH (Raising Educational Achievement in Collaborative Hubs)  is a new program developed under the Chico Student Success Center in efforts to improve academic achievement amongst first-year students. REACH participants are provided academic peer mentors who will act as personal guides to help first-year student navigate college. The REACH Academic Mentor needs to be responsible, organized, and a role model for academic success with a 3.0 GPA or above. Academic Mentors must be sensitive to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds, including first-generation and low-income students. Mentors will need to identify problems that impact students' academic performance and work strategically to provide guidance. In order to do this, mentors should have a clear understanding of effective study skills and study habits, be familiar with student resources on campus, and be able to work well with students as a leader.

Mentors generally work 10 hours a week and are able to plan these hours to fit their schedule. The current pay rate for mentors is $10.00 per hour.
